A NIGHT @ THE OPERA!
Ever been to the Opera! Heard of Figaro and Traviata and Rigoletto but never had a chance to hear opera sung live? Here's your opera-tunity to hear one of the world's most loved operas - Giacomo Puccini's La bohème. It's all about fancy young bohemians living in the Latin Quarter of Paris in the 1840s. There's not really much of a plot, but being opera, there's a girl and a boy, Rodolfo and Mimì, and of course it ends up with her dying. Even if the plot 'aint much the tunes are great and its enormously popular! According to Operabase, it is the fourth most performed opera worldwide. Tickets for the Opera are always a sought after commodity and 20 lucky students have an opportunity to attend for free. Hurry to confirm your attendance.
17 MARCH
LORDS @ HUME AND HOVELL
You know it's said that the only game they play in heaven is cricket! I think that's because it always seems to go on for an eternity! Well not so today - we have modified the rules and even those who have never swung a bat, or bowled a ball in anger, will find it fun to join in. We're travelling out of Melbourne for a picnic lunch and a day in the country. Last year we saw kangaroos, and a snake on the oval! Sound fun? Book a place!

CHOCOLATE NIGHT
Did you know chocolate is an essential food group all on its own? That it really is good for you? Well, maybe not. But it is indisputably the yummiest of foods, and versatile! There are 100s of wonderful ways to incorporate chocolate into your diet (did I say diet!) and tonight you'll learn some great recipes for utilising what some have described as the food of the gods. You might get a little dirty, because this is a hands on cooking class. Plan to stroll home slowly as you might be a little too full to move for a while.

BROTHERS IN ARMS
Every country honors its great wartime achievers but in Australia we do it slightly differently. Our great national commemoration remembers the Battle of Gallipoli between April 1915 and January 1916 in modern-day Turkey. Australia was only 14 years old as a nation and there were terrible problems from the outset. The army was landed on an unknown shore. No accurate maps were available. No detailed planning had been done. It was a disaster! But the troops at Gallipoli were a credit to the new nation. The stirring story of how they scaled the cliffs and held on in the face of daunting Turkish counter-attacks reflected the emerging 'have a go' and larrikin character of this country. Globe students can experience a wonderful concert marking the Gallipoli anniversary, including music and songs and reflections from the times - all presented by some of Australia's finest singers and musicians. 15 FREE TICKETS for those who apply.

JAVA BEAN BREWING
Did you know coffee is the second most traded commodity on earth? And did you know that four cups per day decreases the risk of depression by 20 percent? Unfortunately, regular coffee drinkers are also more likely to smoke and drink, and less likely to go to church, or volunteer, or participate in community groups. But, they are less likely to be overweight and have high blood pressure or diabetes. Why all this useful information? Well, you need something to talk about when you're making the customer's coffee. Yes, tonight you can learn to Barrista with the Best with a two-hour course on making your Java Jive. You'll even receive a Certificate and a couple of beans to take home!
